Kabul Times News
According to a report by the *Long War Journal*, eight anti-Taliban groups have claimed to have carried out a total of 37 operations across various provinces of Afghanistan during the month of September 2026. These figures are based on claims released by the groups themselves and have not been independently verified.
Attacks Reported in Panjshir and Badakhshan
On October 10, the National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan announced an attack in the Rukha district of Panjshir, claiming that one Taliban member was killed and another wounded. The Front also reported an attack on a Taliban outpost in the Khost wa Firing / Kohistan-e-Manjan district of Badakhshan. The details of these incidents have not been independently verified.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged regarding the activity of armed anti-Taliban groups in the provinces of Baghlan, Takhar, Kapisa, and Kabul. These reports indicate a wide geographical spread of such activities; however, the actual military capability and influence of these groups remain unclear.
Claim of 30,000 Taliban Troops Deployed in Panjshir
In response to these security developments, reports have surfaced regarding a reinforcement of the Taliban’s military presence in Panjshir. On October 20, Abdullah Khanjani, a spokesperson for the National Resistance Front, claimed that the Taliban have deployed nearly 30,000 troops and established approximately 700 security outposts in the province. These figures, too, have not yet been independently verified. Conclusion
Reports indicate that groups opposed to the Taliban remain active in several Afghan provinces. However, data regarding operations, casualties, and the number of deployed forces rely primarily on claims made by the conflicting parties. Independent verification of this information is essential for an accurate assessment of the country's security situation.
