News Report | Kabul Times News
Local sources in Maidan Wardak province report that on the evening of Monday, the 4th of Aqrab, armed individuals attacked a home in Sanglakh village, Jalrez district, and shot three young brothers while they were asleep. All three brothers lost their lives in the incident.
According to sources, the victims were 14, 16, and 20 years old and worked as laborers alongside their uncle. Local sources state that the three had no military background, and there is no known information regarding any personal feuds they might have had with anyone.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the perpetrators have not yet been identified. Some local sources speculate that the victims may have been targeted due to their affiliation with the Shia community; however, this claim has not been independently verified. Following the incident, Taliban forces arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.
This incident occurs amidst reports of civilian killings in parts of Maidan Wardak over recent months. In one such instance, sources reported that Khan Ali Alizadeh, a local influential figure in Daimirdad district, was killed in front of his family. Additionally, there have been reports regarding the killing of two Hazara brothers by armed Kuchis (nomads) in the same district.
The recurrence of such incidents has heightened concerns regarding the safety of local residents, particularly ethnic and religious minorities. Nevertheless, determining responsibility for these attacks, identifying the perpetrators, and conducting an independent investigation of the evidence remain essential. As of the time this report was prepared, no confirmed information has been released regarding the identity of the attackers, the motive for the attack, or the outcome of any potential investigation.
