Panjshir: Family Members of a Former Resistance Commander and Two Local Elders Detained
Kabul Times News | Report by Abdullah Valizadeh
Reports indicate an escalation in pressure and the detention of residents in the Abdullah Khel Valley—located in the Darah District of Panjshir Province—by the Taliban. These developments follow an attack that, according to the "Afghanistan Green Trend" (Rond-e Sabz-e Afghanistan), targeted a Taliban Ranger vehicle two weeks ago.
According to information provided by local sources, in the wake of this incident, the Taliban detained Abdul Kabar (son of Commander Qasim Darah), Shir Shah (his nephew), and Muslim (a close relative) on suspicion of involvement in the explosion. It is reported that these three individuals have been in custody for approximately two weeks.
In a more recent development, eight elders from the Abdullah Khel Valley visited the Taliban’s "Commission for Addressing Complaints Against Military Personnel" in the center of Panjshir to mediate and inquire about the status of those detained. Sources state that the Taliban subsequently detained two of these elders—identified as Mir Ghiyas and Ghulam Akbar—and transferred them to a military unit located in the Dashtak area of the Anaba District.
Local sources claim that the detainees are being subjected to physical torture and psychological pressure, and their families have expressed deep concern regarding their health and safety.
As of the time of publication, no independent details regarding the condition of the detainees, nor any official response from the Taliban concerning these allegations, are available.
