HERAT – A local source told Kabul Times News that Taliban forces have once again carried out mass arrests of young women and girls in Herat city today.
According to information received, dozens of women and girls have been arrested from different areas of the city and transferred to unknown locations. Local sources described the current situation in Herat as “critical and worrying” and said that the widespread presence of armed forces in the city has created a heavy atmosphere of fear and anxiety among citizens.
According to eyewitnesses, Taliban forces have been deployed in different parts of the city and are arresting women regardless of their clothing. Reports indicate that even women who have been present in the city wearing full veils and protective clothing have not been spared from these arrests.

Witnesses emphasize that all the forces involved in the operation were armed and their widespread presence has increased the atmosphere of fear and terror among the city's residents.
Local sources also clarify that these arrests are not limited to a specific ethnicity, religion or group and, contrary to some speculation, women from different classes and regions of Herat city have been targeted by these measures.
As of the publication of this report, Taliban officials have not commented on the reason for the arrests, the exact number of those arrested and their whereabouts.
