Salary cuts and delays in salary payments; Female employees of Queen Soraya Hospital in Helmand complain of difficult living conditions
Kabul Times News 21-04-2026
Female employees of Queen Soraya Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Helmand province are complaining about a sharp reduction in their salaries and a long delay in salary payments.
According to them, their monthly salary has been reduced from 18,000 Afghanis to 7,000 Afghanis and they have not received any payment in the past three months. In addition, the outstanding debts of eight months of salary from the last years of the previous government have also not been paid.
These employees say that they have repeatedly approached the relevant departments, but have not received any results. Delays in salary payments have become a serious and widespread problem among government employees.
While Taliban officials report an increase in domestic revenues through taxes and mining, reports indicate that many government employees, including teachers and employees of various departments, are facing the problem of not receiving their salaries on time. This issue has been reported particularly in ministries such as Finance and Education.
Studies show that the majority of the government budget is allocated to security institutions, and this sector has received a significant share of financial resources, especially in the regular budget. In contrast, service sectors such as health and education have received the least share.
