Taliban Official from "Vice and Virtue" Department Arrested in Takhar for Illicit Affair with Married Woman

A Taliban official from the Department for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in the Warsaj district of Takhar province has been arrested while engaging in an illicit sexual relationship with a married woman.

According to local sources, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 2 (11 Mizan), when the official was apprehended by local residents inside a mosque while involved in the illicit act.

No further details regarding the exact time of the incident or the fate of the detained individual have been released.

Similar allegations against Taliban officials and members have surfaced previously; notably, in 2024, a Taliban criminal investigation chief in the Yangi Qala district of Takhar was arrested in a comparable incident.
