The Afghan national team and the World Cup were held in Kazakhstan, which hosted 9 countries, and they won third place.

Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Mongolia, Russia, China, Hungary, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan participated in this tournament, and Afghanistan played in Group B with Mongolia, Hungary and Russia.

In the group stage of this tournament, the Afghan national team defeated Hungary with a score of 14-0, Mongolia with a score of 7-0 and Russia with a score of 5-0 and qualified for the semi-finals, but in the semi-finals they lost to Uzbekistan with a score of 4-2 and were eliminated from the tournament. However, the Afghan team defeated the third team, Russia, with a score of 6-0 and won the third place in the tournament.
