Fiery Night in the Persian Gulf; Iran and the US Enter Direct Confrontation

Persian Gulf – Kabul Times News

Last night, the Persian Gulf witnessed one of the most intense military confrontations between Iran and the United States since the ceasefire was established in April. According to a report published by CNN, the two sides targeted each other’s naval and military targets in a series of reciprocal attacks.

According to CNN, the clashes began when US forces used Hellfire missiles to target a Botswana-flagged oil tanker that was heading to a port on Iran’s Kharg Island. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed that the ship had not cooperated with the US-imposed naval blockade.

In response, Iran announced that it had targeted a Liberian-flagged ship with a missile attack. However, further details about the damage and possible casualties in the attack were not released.

Tensions reached a dangerous new level when the US targeted an Iranian military ground control post on Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz. Following the attack, Iran announced that it had fired missiles and drones at targets in the Persian Gulf region.

Iranian officials claim that the operation targeted a US air and helicopter base in the region, as well as the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. So far, Washington has not released official details about the extent of the possible damage from the attacks.

Analysts warn that the continuation of these conflicts could pose serious challenges to the security of shipping lanes, global energy markets and the stability of the Persian Gulf region. There are also growing concerns about the spread of the conflict and its impact on countries in the region.

As of the time of publication, no independent international source has fully confirmed all the details of the claims made by both sides. Report: Abdulhaq Hamidi
