Taliban ban women from all Kabul amusement parks
Kabul – Kabul Times News
Following widespread restrictions on women’s presence in public places, the Taliban’s Department of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has banned women and girls from all Kabul amusement parks.
According to published reports, this new order applies to all amusement parks in the capital, and women will not be allowed to enter these places even if accompanied by a religious male guardian. Reports also indicate that Taliban Virtue forces have been deployed at the entrances of some parks to monitor the implementation of this decision. (Pamir – Pamir News Agency)
This decision was made while the Taliban had previously imposed restrictions on women’s presence in parks and had designated specific days for women to use these places. However, with the implementation of the new order, women’s presence in Kabul amusement parks has been completely banned. (Wikipedia)
As of the time of this report, Taliban officials have not provided an official explanation for the reasons for issuing this order. However, in similar cases, Taliban officials have cited gender segregation and compliance with their own regulations as reasons for imposing such restrictions. (Donyay Eqtesad Newspaper)
Human rights activists and international organizations have repeatedly expressed concern about the increasing restrictions on Afghan women. They believe that these measures further restrict women's access to basic rights and participation in social spheres. Since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, Afghan women have faced extensive restrictions on education, employment, travel, and the use of public spaces. (Pamir - Pamir News Agency)
This new decision has brought widespread reactions on social networks and among Afghan citizens, with many considering it another step towards the gradual removal of women from the country's public spaces.
