The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to build a new oil pipeline designed to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, with operations expected to begin next year, according to Bloomberg.
In a statement published on the social media platform X, the emirate’s media office said the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) will significantly expand its oil export capacity through the port of Fujairah once the project is completed.
The statement noted that the new pipeline will double ADNOC’s oil export capacity via Fujairah, supporting efforts to meet growing global energy demand.
Located on the Gulf of Oman, the port of Fujairah holds strategic importance as it allows oil shipments to reach international markets without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime chokepoint that has long been subject to geopolitical tensions.
The project reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to strengthen its energy infrastructure, enhance export security, and ensure stable oil supply to global markets amid ongoing regional uncertainties.
