Women's Cry Movement: Victims' Silence Should Not Lead to Forgetting Justice
Kabul Times News | Women in Afghanistan
The "Women's Cry" movement has issued a new statement warning against the continued forced silence of women in Afghanistan and calling on the international community to take the voices of victims of violence and oppression seriously.
The statement states that behind every report and statistic published by international organizations lies the lives of women who are unable to narrate their suffering and experiences due to detention, threats, violence, and extensive restrictions.
The movement has emphasized that the silence of victims never means the absence of violence or crime, but rather reflects the conditions in which many women are deprived of expressing the realities of their lives.
Women's Cry also called on human rights institutions and the international community to not only examine the situation of Afghan women in the form of statistics and reports, but also to pay special attention to the narratives, testimonies, and experiences of victims.
The statement emphasizes the need for truth-seeking, accountability, and justice, and states that justice cannot be achieved without hearing the voices of victims. The movement believes that continued silence and indifference can pave the way for continued systematic violations of women’s rights.
The Women’s Cry movement has called on all international institutions and human rights defenders to take more effective measures to protect Afghan women and document violations of their rights.
