Increase in women’s arrests in Takhar; families concerned about complete ignorance
Local sources in Takhar province report an increase in women’s arrests by Taliban forces. The latest case is the arrest of two young women who worked in a hair salon and, according to their families, were trying to provide for their families.
According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday, 2 Saur 1405, in the center of Takhar province. Sources say that Taliban forces entered a house on “Shahidi 4th Road”, arrested the two women and transferred them to an unknown location.
Relatives of the two women emphasize that they observed the Islamic hijab and masks when traveling and did not violate any announced laws. However, it has now been about a week since their arrest and there is still no information about their whereabouts or health condition.
The families of these individuals say that they have been living in extreme anxiety and complete ignorance during this time. According to them, repeated attempts to obtain information from the responsible institutions have been fruitless and no response has been given to their requests.
Meanwhile, women’s rights activists warn that many similar cases are not reported in the media due to the families’ fear of possible consequences. They say that the increase in the detention of women in recent weeks has intensified the atmosphere of fear and silence among citizens, especially women.
According to sources, the trend of detention of women is increasing in some provinces; an issue that human rights defenders believe could have widespread consequences on the social situation.
