Afghan Women’s Movement Warns of Deteriorating Situation of Refugees in Pakistan
Kabul – Kabul Times News:
The Afghan Women’s United Movement for Freedom has expressed deep concern in an official statement over the worsening situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan and called for immediate action by the international community.
According to the statement, Afghan refugees, especially human rights activists, journalists, and former military personnel, are facing increasing security threats, psychological pressure, and legal restrictions. Problems related to visa renewal have also been raised as one of the major challenges.
The movement emphasized that a significant portion of these people are unable to return safely to Afghanistan due to serious risks and are also deprived of access to adequate international support.
The statement called on the international community and international institutions to take immediate and effective measures to accelerate the resettlement process of refugees, increase humanitarian support, and facilitate their safe transfer to third countries. Meanwhile, the need for special attention to the situation of women and other groups at risk has been emphasized.
The United Afghan Women's Movement for Freedom has also warned that continued indifference to this situation could have serious and irreparable consequences and has called for a coordinated and immediate response from the international community to this crisis.
