The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day that thousands of people in Afghanistan are infected with the disease every year.
Edwin Siniza Salvador, WHO Country Director for Afghanistan, also warned that tuberculosis remains a serious health threat in the country and requires urgent attention.
Citizens of the country have also emphasized that the lack of medical facilities and limited access to medical services have exacerbated this health crisis.
