The Taliban Supreme Court has announced that a man in Balkh province was publicly flogged and sentenced to prison.
According to a court press release, the man was sentenced to 30 lashes and two years in prison in Shortapa district on charges of “sexual intercourse.”
The Taliban’s continued use of corporal punishment is a sign of an increase in the number of cases, and several other people have recently been subjected to such punishments in different provinces.
