*40 countries of the world: Solidarity with Afghan women and condemnation of violations of their rights by the Taliban*

On the occasion of International Women's Day, forty countries of the world expressed solidarity with Afghan women and strongly condemned the systematic violations of their rights by the Taliban.

This position was expressed in the form of a joint statement by countries with "Shared Commitments on Women, Peace and Security" and members of the "Group of Friends of Women, Peace and Security" at the United Nations and was announced before the Security Council briefing on the UNAMA mission in Afghanistan.

The countries signing the statement, while supporting Afghan women and girls, strongly condemned the Taliban's restrictive measures in education, work and social participation and warned that the deprivation of women will have serious and long-term consequences for the future of Afghanistan.
